Anthony Cruz Legarda is a fashion designer and textiles technologist who specializes in fine hand woven and embellished eco Philippine textiles.  He has been discovering, researching, developing and designing these intricate and vibrant fabrics and clothing for over 20 years. His interest and passion started in his last year of college at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. He saw fabrics from all around the world in the garment district but found not a stitch Philippine textile. Thus in the 1990, he went back to the Philippines to discover his roots through textiles and met Patis Tesoro, the preeminent Filipiniana fashion designer, who mentored him in the variety and intricacy of indigenous Philippine Textiles. And in 2000’s , he expanded his knowledge and artistry by working with Philippine Textile Research Institute to create new and innovative Filipino fabrics using fibers and technologies made in the Philippines. Furthermore, he is also working with Non-timber Forest Products-Exchange Programme Philippines and CustomMade Crafts Center to collaborate with master weavers in Kalibo and Lake Sebu to produce new patterns and motifs in piña and t'nalak weaves. And in 2015, he is a creating a sustainable fashion collection using natural indigo dyes. All these creations are unique to the Philippines.
